problem upgrading WIN98 to WINXP PRO

D

Dave

When I try to upgrade to WINXP Pro I get an error
message "the file H:\I386\WINNT32A.DLL could not be
loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue."

How do I overcome this?

Thanks

Is this error happening during the install (copy) phase or at
the first boot into Windows XP ?

Assuming H: is your CD-ROM, examine the XP install CD
for smudges or dust and clean with a cotton cloth. Don't use
paper towels or tissues, as they can scuff the surface.

You are dealing with a read error (CRC), so it is possible
that your CD drive may need cleaning. 3-M makes a cleaning
disk with small micro-brushes to clean the laser. ~$10.00.
