I am getting setup errors when trying to upgrade from Windows Me to XP Home
Edition. The errors are setup has caused an error in KRNL386.ESE and The
file D:\I386\WINNT32A.DLL could not be loaded or is corrupt. Any ideas how
to fix these and proceed with the upgrade?

One really should not upgrade from ME to XP,ME was/is the worst windows OS
ever to leave microsoft. One should do a clean xp installation from ME,simply
install xp cd,boot to xp cd (you may need to set this in the BIOS),once at XP
cd boot menu, select install xp,new copy, delete the partition (ME),create one,
then xp formats & does a clean installation. From here,if ME is corrupted from
a partial XP upgrade, you may get asked for the ME cd (only retail ME
works),if
you dont have retail, you'll need to reinstall ME,then boot to xp cd....
