Upgrading from w2k Pro to WinXP Pro

Does anyone know any way to upgrade from W2k Pro to WinXP Pro and not have
to reinstall all of the Windows programs ?
The computer is capable with Amd dual core processor and 2Gigs or Ram.
I don't care if the install is on the same Hdd or a different Hdd.
I have upgraded many computers many times but always had to reinstall all
of my Windows programs to make them work. I have several hundred programs.
the Dos programs work fine without any tweeking, but the Windows ones do not
because of the registry. The last time I could upgrade and be ready to go was
I believe from Win95 to Win98 or maybe it was from Win3.1 to Win98, I can't
remember.
I don't believe that Microsoft can't transfer the registry entries upon
upgrading to
make me ready to go. It is a business computer and about every 5 to 7 years
I have to do this because the computer is on 24/7 and some hardware fails.
This time it was software not supporting Win 2000 annymore.

Just a regular upgrade does that just fine. That's exactly what should
be expected and what normally happens.

Then you are doing something very much wrong. It's hard to tell you
exactly what, unless you provide us with the details of how you did
the upgrade
