how to put in unsername and password

A temporary solution is to get onto "webmail" (or whatever it is called by
your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and get your messages directly from them
(the "server"). By calling technical support for your ISP they should be able
to help you.

I am having a similar problem so I don't know if this is a complete solution
but at least you will be able to look at your emails on the server.

It means there is a 'stuck' email on the server.
Log in via webmail (using your browser), sort the messages there by date,
delete all the older ones you already have downloaded, plus one more.
Try Windows Mail again.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
