problem of detecting removable harddisk

I have a removable harddisk which the windows XP of my PC can detect it and
list a harddisk icon in "My Computer". However, these days it doesn't list
the icon for the removable disk while XP can detect it. But I can still
access it by typing E: in
the location bar. Does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
