Old harddisk with programs in new one

Hi,

I've got an old windows xp pc and a new windows xp pc.

Is it possible to insert the harddisk of the old one in the new one as
slave without reinstalling the old one and don't lose the programs (I
haven't got the cd's of the program so I can't reinstall it).

What I want is when the pc starts up that I got a menu to choose one
of the two hardisks.

Can I just plug in the old harddisk in the new pc and would it work?

Thx

No, it won't work. Your Windows installation is tightly linked with the
hardware of your PC. If you port your hard disk to a different PC and try to
boot off the ported disk then Windows will most likely crash.

Nor can you install the old hd as a slave and run the software off it, the
software has to be installed in the currently running Operating system.
