Problem loading W2K on new HDD

Ann

I had to replace my harddrive on my computer. I'm trying
to reload my W2K but apparently it is old enough that it
does not have SP3 on it. The new HD is 120GB and my
system doesn't recognize all of it. It won't let me
complete the setup. How can I load W2K with SP3 at the
same time? I don't have access to a network since it is
my home machine so I can't use the integrated setup.
Thanks.

Win2000 shouldn't have problems accessing a 120GB hard disk without SP3.
There is a 128GB limit, though, that SP3 helps overcome.

Another possible cause for your problem would be that your system BIOS
might not support hard disks that large. Check for the latest available
version.

Ann,
Verify your bios settings to determine if HD is detected (jumpers
correctly configured for single or master?). You might need a flash bios
upgrade to support that HD.
W2K can't create a partition larger than 32 Gigs if the file system is
FAT32. You would need to create the partition in NTFS should you prefer
something larger than 32 Gigs as the system and boot partition.
In order to run SP3 with OS install, you'ld need to get into unattended
installations or other methods of slipstreaming..
