problem customizing xpe image

Hi all,

I have a trouble customizing an image for an HP 5700 Thin Client.
I want to access local group policy but apparently it does not exist.
I searched all snapins in the drive (*.msc) but gpedit.msc is not there...

What should I do ? Is this normal ??

Thank you in advance.

Hi barabba,

gpedit.msc is in Software\System\Management\Infrastructure\Group Policy Core
Administration MMC Snap-in.
You may have to reduce your Component Visibility to 100 to see it.

Actually he was referring to already deployed (existing) platform - HP 5700 Thin Client.

Bar, unless you are able to and want to mess up with XPE Toolkit yourself you are better to contact the manufacturer of the device
so that they could customize the image for you and give you the new image.

Btw, most of the GPO option can be set through registry.

Thank you Paul for your answer. I appreciate it.
I'm XP Pro certified but am unfortunately quiete ignorant about XPe.
I don't understand your answer. Where should I look for the snap in ?
In the file system ? I looked for this path but was not able to find
it ?
What does it mean "reduce your component visibility" ?

I'm using the regular HP image. This is the one I need to customize.

Thank you again in advance.

Hi,

Konstantin already gave you an answer.
XP Embedded are tools used by HP and many others for creating XPe OS that
you see. Usually you can't or can very hardly to add new functionality, but
then you must consult your license agreement.

For all your questions about HP XPe image you should ask HP support.

Best regards,
Slobodan

Thank you all for your answers to my question.
Is it possible I do my own image ? Apparently there is a tool to do
this. Is it possible to download it somewhere ? Do I have to pay
anything ? Btw, we have a select volume licensing from Microsoft. I
could not find any download links from ms site.

Thank you very much for your time.
