Custom image for HP Thin Client t5720

Hello,

I'm trying to create a Win XPe custom image for the HP Thin Client
t5720, using the Win XPe Target Designer.

Can someone point out any references which lists the components that
need to be chosen in the Target Designer for building this image - if
at all such references are available ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Anurag,

You need to run TAP.exe on the target and then import the output into target
designer. This will determine what components you need and you can go from
there.

Drop me a line if you need more help.

Thanks Darren.

I did have using of tap.exe in mind. However some of the posts in this
newsgroup had pointed out that tap.exe may not give the full list of
components for the thin client, or that the drivers of some of those
components might not be available in the target designer. I had posted
this question as a precautionary measure before trying out tap.exe.

I'll anyways go ahead and try out the tap.exe approach and if issues
come up will post in another question.

Hi Darren,

I managed to run tap.exe on the t5720 and build the image from the
resulting PMQ file with the target designer. I then deployed and
booted the t5720 with this image.

However, after a boot up the Start menu only shows the "log off" and
"shutdown" buttons. These are the only available functionalities after
a boot up! ;-) Even the left-click on the Start button to bring up the
menu which has "Explore" doesn't work.

Is there something else that I need to do to be able to have the same
functionalities as the original image?

Thanks.

Have a look at User Interface Core - sounds like you didn't tick
anything in there.

Thanks. That solved the issues.

I'd however thought that tap.exe should have captured this information
when it was run on the t5720. Since the original t5720 has these menu
items, the image built using the tap.exe (and the resulting device.pmq
file) too should have the same menu items?

TAP gathers hardware/device driver information. It doesn't gather user
interface look&feel data.
