problem at upgrading 2000 pro to xp prof

When I install windows xp professional, I get message, saying 'windows xp
setup does not support upgrading from microsoft windows 2000 professional to
microsoft windows xp professional'.

I don't want to install a new xp pro. I just want to upgrade windows 2000 to
xp pro. Is that possible?

Thanks

In order to upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows XP
Professional, you need to purchase a "Retail Version"
of Windows XP Professional.

It appears you acquired an "OEM Version" which
cannot upgrade but must be installed on a reformatted drive.
