Problem adding laptop to existing home network

I have an existing xp home network with two pcs connected. I have a
laptop that I've connected through an ethernet port in my house. I can
get internet service on the laptop, but when I run the network wizard
(with the same name as the existing network), I can't connect to the
other computers. Can someone suggest ideas so that I can connect to
the network? Thanks.

Did you enable ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’ ? Can you
ping the other systems and can you ping the laptop from the other systems?

I enabled file and print sharing but am not sure how to ping the
computers. How do I figure out the address to ping?

Open a command prompt and type 'ipconfig'. This will give you the IP address.
Then go to the other computer and open a command prompt and type 'ping '
followed by the ip address.
