Adding a win98 pc to an existing wireless network

I have a home network consisting of a linksys wireless router
(connected to the Internet via a DSL modem) cabled to an XP x64 PC,
along with a laptop running XP Pro, which is connected to the network
wirelessly. This setup is working fine. What I want to do is add in an
older laptop running win98se. Is it better to cable this machine to
the router, or use a crossover ethernet cable to connect it to one of
the PCs (preferrably the XP laptop). I would only be connecting it
occasionally to use the Internet and share files. How would I go about
this? Thanks.

Connect to the router. I have a Win95 box connected to my router that
shares files/internet connection fine with my XP boxes.

It's been too long since I configured a Win98se computer to work on my
network for me to remember the details, but it shouldn't be very
difficult. Try this: http://www.ezlan.net/basic.html

You need to make sure that

1. Client for Microsoft Networks, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and File
and Printer Sharing are installed
2. Under TCP/IP, your NIC is set to obtain an IP address and a DNS
server address automatically (assuming that you haven't turned off your
router's DHCP server).
3. Firewall is configured appropriately.
