Problem accessing network files

I use a P4 wireless laptop running W2kPro. The family
uses a P233 desktop running WinME connected to a wireless
router. I want all My Documents files on the desktop to
be saved to the My Documents folder on the laptop. This
is to not worry about synchronizing the computers. From
the laptop, I replaced the desktop My Documents folders
with shortcuts to the laptop folders. I can access all
the folders using the shortcuts through Network>
Computers near me, but they cannot be accessed from the
desktop. I have already shared all folders down through
the path. What have I missed?

Just make sure that you have a like username/password on both systems, then
once the folders are shared out you will have a valid username/password to
access the shares.
