Printing problems in outlook?

Damien Brennan

hi
just want to ask a question in relation to a
Printing problem that we are having.it
involves Outlook and a Hp8150 printer.
the problem is that when printing from outlook some
peoples print jobs are not getting printed, they end up
in the print queue with a status showing the following
error
"missmatch: user selected a tray that has not been
installed"
now, under the advanced tab in the printer settings we
have selected an option to "Hold missmatched documents"
as we have 2 diffrent paper sizes, all the paper sizes
that we are printing on are either A4 or letter.
when users are printing from outlook, the memo style is
correct (a4 plain), and also we have quick sets set on
the print server set for a4 plain.

this problem only seems to affect outlook, ie you can
print from the web to the printer normally.
also this problem only affects certain users, its only a
small number who cannot print to it, ive checked there
printer settings and outlook settings and they look
correct.

any ideas or suggestions greatly appreaciated.

What happens when you uncheck the missmatch option? Does the printer display
an error about the size and/or input tray then? Pressing Start twice on the
printer will print the message then. Check the printer settings that the
default tray to use is valid.

Hi Robert,
when unchecked the jobs in the queue are printed, but we
are not allowed to use this option as the printer is
mainly used for printing licences(letter size) on
specific paper. so basically we dont want reqular emails
getting printed on the licensing letter paper(as its too
expensive).

when the jobs are held in the queue, there is no error on
the display panel.

not sure about the default tray, where would i locate
that informatiion?

Thanks
Damien Brennan

Better is to create an additional printer then (of the same printing device)
on the printserver with different settings. You can then name one printer
"licences" and the other "regular" or something like that. People can then
easily choose their printing needs and the printserver will handle the
settings.

Thanks Robert
ive set up one or to users with the same printer, using
diffrent settings, ie connected them as a local printer,
using a tcp/ip port. this seems to have done the trick.
thanks For your help.
