Printing Help Appreciated...

I have a home network with 3 Win 98 SE PC's. One has an HP Model 4215
OfficeJet all-in-one connected to its 98 machine via a USB port. This
pc prints fine, as do the other 2 wireless-connected 98 pcs.

I've added a Win XP Home pc to the network. It shares files fine over
the network. I've used the 'Add Printer' gitchy and, on the XP
'Printers & Faxes' page, I see the printer icon with a checkmark, but
it is grey. Nothing I do will make it 'show color.' Under the status
column it says 'Ready.' If I left-click the printer icon, and then
click 'File,' there is no option in the menu to 'Set as Default
Printer.'

If I right-click the printer icon, choose 'Properties' and then
'Ports,' I see that the print path is to:

\\Kitchen\hp printer LAN Manager Printer Port HP PRINTER

This is the exact SAME path the 98 machines print via.

When I try to print a .txt file on XP, a msg box pops up saying, in so
many words, 'Printing,' yada yada, and then goes away.

Over on the 98 machine there is a loud DING and an error msg pops up
that says:

What to do?
Help appreciated.

One added thought on this...

Is it possible that, no matter what I do, I won't be able to print
using my new XP machine on my 98 network? Based on what I'm seeing, my
suspicion is that this is a 'printer driver' problem? As a 'just in
case,' I went to a HP printer driver site and looked for driver
up-dates. My problem here is that I'm asked for 'operating system.' I
naturally enter XP, as that is the machine that does not print, but
maybe I should ask for 98? It would seem logical that I need a driver
that works with xp AND 98 ??

Download the XP drivers and install to the XP machine. Once the printer
is installed on the XP machine, it might work.
