Printers (or print services) slow or unresponsive

All of a sudden, some of the remote users on our network are getting VERY
slow response from printing services when connected to our Terminal server.
It appears to only be happening in some (most) applications, and does not
seem to effect all users. Those that it does effect, do not have the problem
if they log on to a different server. About half of the users that connect
remotely are effected, the others are not. It is not isolated to a
particular site but rather to the server they log on to.

To verify that it was nothing in individual profiles, I blew away everything
about myself on all 3 of our servers so there were not traces. Then
reestablished my account. I still have the problem.

Besides very slow response to print, when I open the printers window on one
of the servers (whether logged on locally or remotely) It takes 3 - 5 minutes
before all of the printer statuses go from "Opening" to "Ready". If I close
the window and reopen it, it takes about a minute. On the one server that
seems to be unaffected, it is almost instantaneous as it should be. The same
is true if I try to look at the properties for a printer. That can take up
to 5 minutes before the window comes up displaying the properties, and then
1+ minutes to change tabs.

This seems remotely like several of the posts I have read concerning one or
more of the hot fixes, but I would like some other input if someone knows for
sure of a solution to this problem

Thanks much for the help.

After reading some of the posts, I decided to uninstall several hotfixes and
the last rollup for sp4. It made no difference. Shucks!

I also ran sfc. Still no relief!!!
