Hi,

How can I differentiate what site a printer belongs to?

I want everyone at a specific site to know what printers are on their
subnet.

Thanks!!!
Dave

You can use the locations attribute of a printer & set a default location
for a site in group policy, but printers themselves don't belong to sites.

Thanks Brian,

That's a pretty good solution. Here's what I did.

I used Group Policy for an OU and set
"Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Printers->Location" to a
location name
"Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Printers->Pre-populate
printer search location text" to enabled

Then I used adsiedit.msc to set the location of a printer to the same value
as I set in the GP.

Is this all I have to do?
I'm waiting for my GP settings to refresh right now so I haven't seen the
results of the GP settings yet, but I did fill in the location of the
printer when I did a printer search and it worked great.
I can't find a way of setting the printer location in Active Directory Users
and Computers.
Is there of way of doing this from the AD Users and Computers instead of
adsiedit.msc?

Thanks!!!
Dave
