Printer won't print after upgrade to XP

I upgraded from Win Me to Win XP (home). Now my printer
will not print anything, from any program. The printer is
a Canon BJC-4100. Same thing occurs when I try to use
another printer, Epson AP-3250 (esc P2).

Both printers work with my laptop (which runs Windows
2000). I tried troubleshooting, through XP, nothing works.

There are no updated drivers on mfg. website. Could it be
that these printers are simply incompatible with Windows
XP? (even though Canon website indicates BJC-4100 should
work with XP driver supplied with Windows)

Should I just run out and get a new printer?

The Canon 4xxx range work just perfectly in XP.

You upgraded.... did you remember to disconnect the printer before the
upgrade? If not, you have corrupted drivers. Uninstall and then reinstall
the printer using:

Canon printers are particularly fussy about having the software installed
BEFORE the printer is connected to the PC. The software will tell you when
to connect.
