Error printing

I have connected a canon bubblejet BJC-1000 to my packard bell pc with
windows XP and set it as a default printer. it used to work woth my other
computer.
the pc recognizes the printer.
it won't print any print test pages, e-mails, word docs or pdf files.
after a long time loading the printer status says: error printing.
I consulted the troubleshooter under Help but none of the suggestions worked.
the command prompt doesnt work. neither does restarting or shutting down.
I plugged it out and with the next print job the printer status says: out of
paper.
The port is LTP1 but I also tried all the other ports or even all at the
same time.
Now it's set back to only LTP1.
Although the printer has no on/off light, I am quite certain the printer is
on.
Any suggestions?

There should be a purple button on the top of the printer. If you hold
the purple button down for at least 2 seconds and then release it, the
printer should reset and do a print head clean operation.

Then press the purple button twice. This should cause the printer to
print a nozzle check pattern.

If you successfully printed a nozzle check pattern, then the problem
probably is not with the printer itself (even though this is a very old
printer).

You said that you "connected" the printer to your computer. Did you
"install" it? Did you use the correct Windows XP printer driver?

Uninstall and then re-install the printer following the directions here:
http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article_One.htm

You can get the current XP driver at:
http://alpha02u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplS...LA=1174161975943&SV=WWUCA900&menu=DR&TRF=MAIN
or http://tinyurl.com/37xof7

Are you positive the printer cable is OK? Have you confirmed that by
using it on another computer/printer or using a different cable?

Open Device Manager by right-clicking on My Computer and clicking on
Properties. Then click the "Hardware" tab and then "Device Manager."
Double-click Ports (COM & LPT), then double click Canon BJ ECP Printer
Port or Canon BJ Printer Port. The device status should read "This
device is working properly". If not, post back with the info.

If the links in my previous post don't work, try:
