I have an odd problem similar to this. I also have an HP deskjet 990. I find that the printer works fine on many documents, but on certain mail-merge volumes the printer or spooler hangs and I get a "document failed to print" message. If I try to delete the document from the spooler, most often a get a spooler error message and the spooler shuts down. This is consitently happening with a spreadsheet print as well. According to the print queque, it is only a 960KB print image size. But it fails every time. Using Win 98 and printing to anothe printer, it is error free.... Any one have an idea?
