printer to networked TCP/IP printer

Hello all,

I have seen different versions of this question posted and have tried a few
things but I still can not get this working so I'm posting this question in
the hopes that somebody will have a magic answer for me! :)

Basically I have a Windows Server 20003 Terminal Server installed at SITE A.

Two users from SITE B connect to the Terminal Server at SITE A. The users
are running Windows XP SP1 and both users have a local laser printer attached
to their computers. The users of course have no problem printing to their
local laser printers.

The question is this...these two users are also connected to a TCP/IP
printer on their LAN. Port name: IP_192.168.3.17 and that points to a combo
laser printer/photo copier from Minolta - model Di2010. How can these users
print to the networked printer?

I have tried MS Article #264039 with no luck. Then I read somewhere to
upgrade their remote desktop client to version 5.2, as it should redirect
networked printers, but that didn't work either.

Am I just missing something here? Is there something else I had to do after
installing RDP 5.2? I made sure to start the program from the new *.exe.

If someone has any suggestions/tips on how to make this work I'd be so
grateful!

Thanks in advance!

Tammy, in addition to using Remote Desktop Client 5.2.3790 or the one that
ships with XP SP2, there must be a driver for this printer on the Terminal
Server. You can verify that this is the problem by looking in the System
Event Log for event IDs 1111, 1105 & 1106 which detail why printer
autocreation fails. These will tell you exactly which driver the server
needs to autocreate the printer.

If the driver is not built-in, try using a similar built-in driver before
installing the manufacturer's driver, as these are commonly NOT tested for
multi-user environments like TS, and can BSOD your machines or kill the
spooler service.

The printing functions are the only ones that will work.
