Printer spooler not running

There seems to be alot of problems with the printer spooler with Windows XP.
I too, have a problem with printer spooler not running. I also have gone to
services and started manually even though it is tagged as automatic. After it
starts printer is available. After I have shut down the system and rebooted
the same issue comes back. Printer spooler service not running. How do I keep
the service which is tagged as automatic running. I don't want to have to
start the service everytime I want to print if the machine has been shut
down. Anyone have an idea or solution to what seems to be an ongoing problem.
