Printer prints slow

I have a new Medion 2.4Ghz computer. When I connected my
old dot matrix printer Epson Action Printer 5000+esc/p2
with the installed print driver from the Windows files,
the printer prints very slow. It has never had this
problem before, I have trie to changes settings with no
sucsess.
