Printer printing larger than actual scan size

A

Andy

When I scanned and printed a register receipt, it prints at about double the actual size of the receipt.

I have the printer set for original size with the other options being best fit to page and stretch to page.

Can someone help me ?

Thanks,
Andy

What scanner and what scanning software are you using?

I save the file and then use free PIXresizer to make the images smaller.
Works like a charm.

What happens when you turn off the options?

Andy submitted this idea :
It's a Canon Pixma MG 2220.

Hi Andy I have a Canon Pixma 280 same settings and my copied document
is the same size as the original. It should be the same for you.

Just use it as a copier, place the document as if you are going to run
a copy, push Scan, when that is finished, push Black or Color button
under Start, the resultant copy should be the same size as the
original.

You answered one of my two questions, but not the other. Please tell

us what the scanning software is.

Scangear

My scanning is done from within Irfanview using Acquire/Batch Scanning.

So you're using the TWAIN interface provided by the scanner manufacturer
and called via Irfan.

Are you printing from Irfan too? There may be something in it's printer
settings that is causing the effect; if not, it certainly has a "half"
button in its resize/resample menu.

I am printing from the scanner software.

I will find some other software to print scans.

If I have time, I will find out if Irfanview has a bug or the scanner software.

And send them a bug report.

Take care,
Andy

I will probably find a better scanning freeware program or cut out that part of Canon's software that does the scanning.

My firewall(Sunbelt Personal Firewall) detects Canon "phoning home" a lot which I don't care for.

Is that what the Canon scanning software is called?

I will find some other software to print scans.

Let it dump the results of its scans back into Irfan, and print from
that. You can vary the size easily in Irfan - its print page offers
original size, best fit to page, specific size (in cm or inches), or
scaling of original size. It also gives you a preview of how much of
your paper (whatever you're using, such as A4) the image will occupy, as
a thumbnail of the paper with the image on it.
If I have time, I will find out if Irfanview has a bug or the scanner software.

That'll be moderately difficult in Windows XP, as you'll need _some_
sort of driver. I think there _are_ generic scanner drivers, but I've
never used one nor know how many different makes and models they work
with.
My firewall(Sunbelt Personal Firewall) detects Canon "phoning home" a
lot which I don't care for.

I wouldn't either. Can it not be set to block a given software without
telling you each time? (I'm assuming it still _works_ if you block it.)
