In the printer preferences dialog box, I unchecked "Keep printed documents"
and clicked applied and then Ok. However, the slection is not applying. It
will not turn off. Any ideas?

Start menu, printer and faxes, right click on default printer, then advanced

You missed out "Properties"....

Does this impinge on your printer use?

Everything works fine. I was in the process of using an application that
requires Active X, and the print manager for that control requires the "keep
printed documents" to be turned off to use it correctly.
