Save File Format in Prefs doesn't stick

Hello,
Every time I do a "Save As" the dialog defaults to Powerpoint 97-2003.
I go to preferences and select the "Save files in this format" drop-down and
pick "Powerpoint Presentation" and OK.
However, if I go back into prefs, the format is back to PPT 97-2003...

How can I make my selection stick???

I take it you are using 2007 and want the default to be .pptx??

When you change the save option did you click "OK" just closing the dialogue
won't work.

If you did have you opened a .ppt file. No matter what the option set this
will default to saving as 97-2003
