printer ports missing

Dan

I have a Win2000 server that I'm using as a print server.
Recently I tried to add an Epson 4000 printer to the
server. After loading the drivers I found that none of
the ports appear when I go to the ports tab. This isn't
just happening on the Epson but on all of the other
printers tha were already installed on the printer. How
can I get my ports to appear again?

Hello Dan,

It sounds to me as if part of the registry was damaged by something.

Look at
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors]

Do not alter anything!

You should see a few ports including:
BJ Language Monitor
Local Port
PJL Language Monitor
Standard TCP/IP Port

You may also see
LPR Port
USB Monitor
and more.

The ones listed are the default ports.
Which port are you trying to print to?

Local Port is the LPT port. If this is missing, you will not see the LPT
Port as an option.
