printer plug and play pain

Hi

Ever since I upgraded to XP, I have used as Samsung ML-
4500 laser printer. The printer works fine and I managed
to install the drivers with no trouble. However Every
time windows XP starts it detects the printer as a new
device and runs the install process. This is most
frustrating, I have to click cancel on every restart. If
I follow the install process, the printer stops working.

Is there any way to stop XP from re-installing my printer
on every reboot.

Is there some plug and play option i can switch off?

thanks to anyone who can help

Rob

Rob, remove the printer physically from the machine. Remove the software
for it from add/remove programs in Control
Panel. Restart your computer and let WinXP see that it's not there. Then
reinstall the software and shutdown. Reinstall
the Printer.
