Printer operation cannot continue.....(adding a printer)

D. Shane Fowlkes

Hello all. I'm hoping someone can help me here. I'm having an issue on
here on a Windows 2000 Server. After discovering that I couldn't install
Acrobat 7 on this machine, I started researching the issue. Come to find
out, Adobe wasn't able to install a (virtual) printer on my machine.

So, after seeing if I could add a printer myself, I realized I couldn't.
When I go to install a printer, I get the error "Printer operation cannot
continue due to a lack of resources. The print subsystem is unavailable."

That lead me here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811348

So after following the instructions on the link above, it says to (step 3)
double click the Print Spooler in Services.....problem is, I see nothing
like that among the services. It's just not there.

Do I need to add or install the Print Spooler service?!

Any help is appreciated.

No, it is installed by default. From a command prompt;

net start

is it listed?

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm only in this office in the mornings.
When I use that command, it says "The service name is invalid."
