Printer Disappeared

I am running Windows 2000 and printed a document to my HP
LaserJet 1012 this morning (as usual). When I tried to
print a second document, I could not. The printer was on
and had paper. So, I went to the printers area of my
computer and no printers were installed. I had 2 printers
installed earlier today - the one I mentioned and an HP
network printer. What would cause these printers to just
disappear from my computer?

I can't re-install either. I get a message saying there
aren't enough system resources. I've restarted and still
no luck. Can anyone help?

(Norton Corp Edition is up to date and all Microsoft
Patches are up to date as well)

Not sure if this is a fix for yours but I have seen a
similar issue happen on my network before. Are all the
printers that were installed gone? If so it could be the
print spooler service has stopped/failed to start. When
similar issue has happened our computers this was the case
and none of the installed printers would show up in the
printers folder. To restart the print spooler service go
to control panel, open Administrative Tools, open Services
and look for one called "Print Spooler". Look to the right
of it and see if it says that it is started under
the "status" header. If it is not you can right click on
it and choose "start". If this is the cause of your
problem your printers will appear again.
