print spooler won't start

Windows 2k pro
My print spooler wont start automatically. Upon startup, I have to Manully
start it. It is set to automatically start.

I know this is kind of a general problem, but any advice will help.

System event logs have any hints?

I've seen problems with the spooler service just *stopping* due to bad
printer drivers, but not sure if it has anything to do with your sitch.
 
I get an event code 2506...Is that related?

Description:
The value named IRPStackSize in the server's Registry key
LanmanServer\Parameters was invalid. The value was ignored, and processing
continued.

No other error or warning events.
