Print Spooler Will Not Keep Running

Looks like I have a similar problem to a number of other people. Since an
upgrade of XP my Print Spooler will not stay running. I've tried everything
here that people have suggested but still not good. I have removed all
Printers and Drivers and the Print Spooler will still not stay running. I can
start it but them it stops again with a few minutes.

Please, if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Hi Mick,

if you have any entries in

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\PostSPUpgrade]

delete or move them and try again

Hi Dieter,

Thanks for the response but I don't have that directory and so don't have
any files there. Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Mick

Hi Mick,
sorry, the answer was not clear enough.
Check the registry key not a directory. In another case windows update saved
some entries under that registry key.
After a few minutes the spooler crashed. After deleting all keys below
PostSPUpgrade everything worked fine.
The wrong entry was "unidrv.dll" in "UpgradedDrivers".

Hi Dieter,

Sorry, been away for a couple of days.

Yes, I did check the registry and that is not there. Print spooler still not
working. I'm now going to look at the other posts in this tread.

Thanks

Cari,

I have 2 printers and removed them both and am currently trying with just 1
of them, a HP Laserjet 2100. This was all working fine untill recently.

I'm now going to look at the other posts in this tread.

Thanks

Mick
