Print Spooler stopped

WindowsXP Pro print spooler suddently stopped.
I can't see my printers in Fax and Printers.
What do I have to do to activate the the print spooler?
Help, please
 
From the command prompt, type

net start spooler
(and hit enter)

Should it not start, post back with the exact test of the error message.
