Print Spooler Missing From Services

When adding a printer I get the meesage"Operation could not be completed.
The print spooler service is not running". All resolution on net suggests
going into service and startin printspooler. When I do this I cannot see
print spooler or anything like it listed. Have also tried starting spooler
from a run prompt to no avail.

Try the following,

1. Open the command prompt window and type

sfc /scannow

If prompted for your Windows XP CD then insert the CD. If asked to insert
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 disk and you do not have this disk then follow
these direction on how to solve this problem.

Scannow sfc

If the System file checker does not resolve your problem then go to next step.

2. Download the following to desktop and double-click to import into the
registry.

3. If all else fails then perform a repair install using Method 2 directions.
