I just changed from a Lexmark printer to a HP 1350.
Since I uninstalled the Lexmark I get a message "spooler
is not running" when I try to install the HP.
Upon investigating, I found that the LEXBCEserver is
still listed in the spooler dependencies. Does anyone
know how to change the print spooler dependencies?
The retailer for the HP said that they thought I would
have to reinstall windows XP. Please tell me that isn't
true. Help, Help, Help.

Lexmark also has a completeUninstall program that cleans up their stuff.
Look for you printer model on the Lexmark site and download their uninstall
utility.

I finally have a functioning printer again.
I found a similar problem listed in "Print spooler will
not start . . . scarcrow28" posted on Dec 18 2003 at
10:41 pm. Using his info on how to remove a spooler
dependency, I was able to clear up my problem. The
method he suggested is:
Click START, Click RUN, type regedit in OPEN and Click OK.
Then you look thru the spooler files until you find one
that has the offending dependency and DELETE it.
Restart the computer and try the printer install again.
Worked like a charm.
Thanks to all of you who responded to my message.
Ray
