Prevent specified files from appearing in Start Menu > Documents list

Is there a way to set a property or otherwise mark(?) a document to
prevent that document (only) from appearing in the recent Documents
list in the Start Menu?

Delete the shortcut to the file in question from the hidden folder

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Recent
