Presentation Soundtrack does not play

I have PowerPoint 2007 presentations with a sound file set to play across
slides and to stop after 999 slides. This works fine at the office. At
home, I get no sound. In both places, work and home, I've set the Max File
Size (KB) to 50000. I have the sound files in both locations, work and home,
and put them in the same folders as the presentations. Still no sound at
home, but I get it at the office.

The sound files are .wma files. They play in Windows Media Player and in
Real Player. If I attach other sounds to objects in this presentation, like
the built-in applause sound, it works both at home and at the office. My
speakers are fine.

I'm at a loss. Thanks for any help.

Check the volume setting in the Custom Animation pane. You should have a
Sound Settings tab the same place you set the Stop Playing after 999. Under
Play options click the speaker icon and check level and mute
setting.............TD

It could be a file path length issue.

Put the sound and the presentation in a folder called C:\test, then reinsert
sound into the presentation. Does it play?

It could also be a digital rights managment (DRM) issue. (I don't know about
everyone else, but I seem to see this more often with WMA files than with
others.) In that case, the file would play on your office system, but not at
home.

By the way, WMA files are not embedded, they are only linked. The max sound
file size (50000kb) only apples to WAV sounds, which are the only types of
sound files that can be embedded into PPT.

I copied the presentation and the .wma file into C:\test. I opened the
presentation from there, deleted the sound file and re-inserted it from
c:\test. I set it to play over 999 slides and to start automatically. Still
no sound. Volume settings, etc. are fine. It's driving me crazy.

Thanks for trying to help.

Thanks for reporting back with your steps. In that case, I'd suspect DRM is
at work...
