I connect to my ISP via dial-up.

I note from ipconfig that the Physical Address is left blank.

Can anyone explain this?

Thanks

Sure :-)
The physical (or: MAC) address is the number, burned into the
ethernet card.
Dial-up uses a modem, hence no network card, hence no serial
number for that card.

apart from modems not having them (MAC addresses), it is a point to point
pipe, so whatever goes in one end is coming out the other end and is
dealt with by the routing protocol at each end

Thanks to both.

That explains that.

Best wishes.
