Powerpoint Viewer Problem

Powerpoint Viewer no longer works. Have not used Power
Point viewer in some time.(since last SP update) Just
received a pps file, and stated that it could not locate
program to open file. Had pp-97 so updated to pp-2003. It
appeared to update successfully. Still will not open pps
file. Checked Folder Options and PPS and PPT is there. Any
hints. I'm not that knowledgable.

Are you absolutely positive that the new *.PPS file you received is not
defective/corrupt? Have you tested the PowerPoint view with by using a
file that you know to be good?

Are you saving the file to your hard drive and opening from there?
How did you get the file?

What do the guru's in the Office or PowerPoint Newsgroups have to say? This
is WinXP, not PowerPoint viewer, running on XP is irrelevant.

Instead of trying to open it from your email, and getting that message, save
it to disk and open it there. Bet it works now, doesn't it?
