Having had a Umax scanner with a power-saving feature, I've just got an
Epson 1670 Perfection. Maybe it's just me, but I can't see any feature to
power down the bulb - is there one? And if not, shouldn't there be?

Thanks

Mr S

I've had an epson 1660 and currently have a 2400 and although I don't
remember any configuration to set this, it is included in the software. I
think it takes about ten minutes to shut the light inside down. The lights
on the scanner buttons stay on all the time it's powered up though.

I have a 1640 which does the same thing. The light stays on all the time if
I leave the power on. Yet, if unused for a few minutes I get a delay with
the message "warming up the scanner." Strange.

On the 1640 there is a switch on the back of the TPU. In one position
the lamp stays on indefinitely, in the other position it goes out after
a few minutes of non-operation.
