I don't even know if I should be in this part. This is my
problem...I have a e-mail that came to me that has a
download of ppg and I could not download it. I found out
it has something to do with powerpoint. I do not have
powerpoint. Do I have to have powerpoint to download that
file? If I do is it something that I have to buy?
Thank you,
Kathie

PPG is normally not the extension used for PowerPoint. Confirm with the
person who sent you the email what it is and ask how they expect you to
view it? Assumming they have the wrong file extension and it is indeed
PowerPoint, ask them how they intended that you view it if you don't
have Powerpoint. They have a responsiblity to give you files that you
can read if they expect you to read them.

You can search the Microsoft download web site for "powerpoint viewer"
to get the free Powerpoint viewer.

However, make sure the emailer knows that he/she should use another
format that is more generic for you. This should not be your problem.

According to filext.com the extension ppg IS a power point file.

but it COULD also be "Professor Franklins' Photo Print Gold" - whatever THAT
is.....

I have power point open right now and you cannot open a .ppg file nor can
you save it in .ppg.
Filex.com is wrong.

It could also be a text file, or Word Perfect, or Microsoft Word file,
say written by an author named "Paul Peterson Grindewald", e.g. PPG (I
used to work for an organisation with a typing pool and they used author
initials for file extensions ... why? I don't know ... but they would
never change!

cheers.

Whatever it is, up to the sender (not receiver) to sort.

Get the free PowerPoint Viewer. Go to

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=9

(one line - it may wrap round here) and it is currently the fifth
popular download on offer

Yuo don't need any particular application (except the application that
grabs it form the net), to downlad any sort of file. You usually need
some sort of Application to open it though, which you have to download
separately, usually.
