possible virus?

I have a user who as of last night has been experiencing problems booting
his machine. On boot, everything seems to load properly until he gets to a
message that states "system bios disabled." After this message, he is able
to continue booting, until he is brought to another message that says
something like "operating system not found" or "no operating system
installed." He claims it does not say anything about "NTLDR not found",
which is strange to me, as this has been my experience when trying to boot
from a drive without operating system.

Unfortunately, I don't have any further information at this time, but does
anyone have any suggestions on where I could start looking for problems?

You'll need to first get past the apparent hardware configuration or
hardware failure issues.

Could it be that a some hardware has failed? No new hardware has been
added, no existing hardware has been removed. It seems like this problem
came about all of a sudden; the user noticed an extreme draw on the
processor (90-100% constantly when no programs were open and only necessary
processes were open), got a BSOD, rebooted, and ran into this problem.

Try booting your emergency AV disks. Also check with the pc or mb
manufacturer or instruction manual to see what recourse you should take for
"system bios disabled"
