XP Reboots itself!!!

It's possible you have a worm such as Blaster. Do a system scan with a
current (not later than 2002) anti-virus program with the latest definitions
and see if that fixes things.

Does anyone know why Windows XP reboots itself for no
apparent reason when I'm on the internet? I have a RS420
Sony Vaio P4, hyper threaded home PC hooked up with 10/100
base T to a cable modem.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi,
At first scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus.
By default, XP is configured that when a system failure is encountered
the system automatically restarts. To prevent the system from
automatically restarting:

Right click on >[My Computer]> click [Properties] and select [Advanced tab].
Click the [Settings] button in the [Startup and Recovery] section.
Remove the checkmark from [Automatically Restart] in [System Failure]
section.
Now when you will reboot you will get an error message which will help
to solve the problem. You may also look at the event viewer.

I had this problem also long ago when I first got XP and installed it
on my Dell P3, after months of getting nowhere and even having dell
tell me my power supply was overheating, as hard as this may be to
believe, it actaully turned out to be an HP printer driver reminder to
register my printer deal that kept trying to come up every so often,
when it tried to run my computer rebooted itself with no warning. Not
sure if this type of thing could also be your problem or not, but IMO
your best bet is to run through the items in your startup via msconfig
tab and remove any junk pertaining to HP print driver reminders if you
have any.
