partition removal

I have a dual boot setup, WinXP and Linux Mandrake 9.1, and each operating system (obviously) has its own partition. I want to remove the Linux partition without removing or affecting the Windows partition; is this possible? I doubt I can add the newly released space from the Linux partition to the Windows partition, so I don't expect more headroom in Windows.

Can't get the partition manager to work properly. It did get me into GUI one time, but it said my HDD was only 16MB, which is obviously grossly inaccurate. Are there any other free partition programs that would aid me in achieving my goal?

If you couldn't get the Ranesh partition manager to work (and since you
don't say why, we can't help you with that), download the trial version
of Partition Magic and use it to remove the Linux partition.

Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive. You
should be able to identify the Linux partition (it will be 'Healthy
(Unknown)' and right click and then delete. You can then r-click in the
resulting Unallocated (or Free) space and create partition, which will
carry on to format it for use. Once done, reboot to bring it into
proper service. You can only add the space to the existing windows
partition with third party partition managers, but would be able to move
major data storage, like all your My Documents to the new one.

To do that, open a My Computer window on C:\Documents and Settins\<you>
to show 'My documents'; another on the new partition, and *right* drag
the folder across, taking *Move* here
