Network communication issues..

I'm just wondering... recently placed my WinXP Pro machine on a LAN with an
OSX machine, and my machine cannot see the Mac. I don't have the option to
add the AppleTalk protocol, which I'm assuming would allow me to communicate
with the other machine. Is there any way I can load up the AppleTalk
protocol or otherwise allow my machine to see the Mac, or is our LAN
useless?

Hello,

You can set up in the MAC the ip protocol, but if you want to have a share
in both machines, or in one of them and use that share by both the PC and
the MAC you have to get a software... it can be DAVE or PCMACLand (i think
it´s called like that) and with either of them you can set up a network
between both machines...

Aye, I've looked at PCMacLan, and it's $189 to register...
I'm not paying 200 dollars for something that MS used to
bundle for free with their OS, plus playing network games
of Diablo 2 just really isn't that worth it to me. Are
there any freeware add-ons out there, or is it possible (I
highly doubt it) for me to pull the Appletalk protocol
from a previous OS?
