Event log viewing difficulties

On one of our Win2k Server machines, I have apparently lost the ability to
view any error log other than System (the default when the Viewer is
opened). When I first open the Viewer, I am able to view all 3100+ events
in the System Log. Once I click on Application Log, I see that 2200+
entries exist, but none display any meaningful text; what I mean is that I
can click on individual logs, but all fields (Type, Date, Time, etc.) are
blank. Double-clicking or hitting Enter to try and launch Properties
produces no results. At this time, clicking on System Log now shows 0
entries, and I also see 0 entries if I revisit the Application Log.

I have confirmed that entries do exist in the Application Log (by exporting
the log as a .evt file), even though I'm unsure if the 2208 number is
accurate. Does anyone know of any way I could maybe change the default log
to the Application Log, or otherwise allow this Log to display all events
contained therein?
