Port 80 conflict

I've had to install IIS on my new hard drive and MO XP Pro w/fp - however,
I'm having a conflict on port 80 when trying to either open localhost - or
make a new folder - or anything - can someone help me resolve this please??

If so shut it down as it claims port 80 for
it's P2P file sharing feature.

Do you have a firewall program
that could be blocking port 80??
I think XP has a built in one.

well, I uninstalled IIS ... then rebooted ..uninstalled MO XP w/fp ... then
rebooted - removed the firewall on internet connection and disabled
zonealarm .... reinstalled IIS ... rebooted - disabled zonealarm again -
reinstalled MO XP w/fp....rebooted...

opened FP, then opened my website from MY WEBS and tried to publish to
localhost - got the same fp error:

FP has detected a web server conflict on port 80, which has server ext fo
rthe fp personal web srver but is running a Microsoft -IIS/5.1 Server. Fp
requies that you intall the fp server ext on this new server before using
it. Would you like to see help on how to do this?

course it can't find the help file .... any other ideas please????

Did you upgrade to Windows XP Pro?
Did you install FP98 at some point?

No it was a clean install for XP Pro and only FP 2002 on this new install to
new harddrive.

What happens if you bring up a browser and
type "http://127.0.0.1:80" in the address line ?

this is strange - it has a popup that asks for username and password (which
I don't have on my computer) and if I hit cancel - it goes to
http://127.0.0.1/localstart.asp and says I'm not authroized to view that
page.???? ok, I'm confused - what is 127.0.0.1??

127.0.0.1
Is what is called a loopback address.
It's an internal address used by the machine.
Try this:
Click Start, click run, type:cmd and click ok.
In the dos window that opens type: netstat -an
and then press enter.
In the list that shows see what if anything
is connecting via port 80.
It "should" be one of the TCP listings on the left hand side.

Do I need to reinstall IIS 5.1 from the XP PRO disk and then install the
FPSE from the below link and THEN install Microsoft Office with FP after
that??? what is the order I should do this in?

I would:
Install FP
Then install IIS "AND" the extensions
from the XP install disk. They both should be there.
