Conflict on Port 80

Guest

I have FP98. I was using Windows 98 when I suddenly
couldn't get into FP. Due to a number of problems I
recenly decided to upgrade to Windows 2000. I still can't
get into FP. I am being told IIS/5.0 is using port 80. I
have been unable to find a way to solve this problem. I
have found nothing on the MS web site that will fix my
problem. The instructions in the help menu for FP 98 to
change the port are wrong. If you know how I can solve
this problem please let me know. I am desperate, I need
to get back to work.

You need to uninstall FP98 and it's web server, and then IIS5, then reinstall IIS with extensions,
then do a custom install of FP98, and unselect the PWS and Extensions related options.

Windows 2000 (pro) uses IIS 5 as the web server. FP 98 uses the FP 98 web
server or MS PWS 4 as the web server by default.

You need to uninstall FP 98. Then, install IIS 5 on Win2K (either from the
install/romove windows program or from the cd). By default, it will also
install the FP 2000 server extensions. Make sure you run windows update and
download and install all FP 2000 extensions patches and updates.

Then, do a custom install of FP98 and do not let it install a web server or
extensions.
