Popup Blocker not blocking?

John

I uninstalled an antivirus program McAfee and then installed a new antivirus
program called Sophos. My Internet Explorer 6 WinXP sp2 popup blocker was
working before I did this but now it's not blocking anything even though I
have it set to "High: Block all pop-ups". I went through the Sophos
antivirus program and didn't find anything that seemed to have overridden
any settings to my IE6 XPsp2 popup blocker. I unistalled Sophos and it's
still not blocking any popus with the setting still set to high. I've been
searching the net but haven't come across anything. Is there a setting in
the registry perhaps? I just saw the suggestion from Ramesh in reply to
ramasart's post which sounded to be a bit similar to my situation but didn't
find those registry keys.

In IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Security tab, click on the Internet
Zone to highlight it, click the Custom button, scroll down to the Misc.
section and make sure the "Use Pop-up blocker" item is enabled.

Thanks for your advice Jon. I appreciate it. I checked that setting and
that item is set to "Use Pop-up blocker".

This is so strange. Still wondering why my Xp Sp2 popup blocker is not
blocking anything?

When all else fails, HijackThis

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.
