POP3 Users are unable to see custom form

I have created some custom forms that we would like to send to salesmen in
the field. The salesmen are using a mixture of Outlook 2000, and Outlook
Express 6. When I send them one of the forms, they only see the message body
and not the custom fields that I have set up. I have tried to setup one
machine using "corporate or workgroup" on Outlook, and have placed the custom
fields into the "user defined fields in Inbox". I have also emailed the .oft
to that machine and published it in the "Personal Forms Library". However
when I receive the email form, I still cannot see the custom fields... Help.

Outlook Express users will never, ever see your custom forms or fields.

For Outlook 2000 users, in form design mode, on the (Properties) page, did you check the "Send form definition with item" box?

Yes, The first time I went to either publish or save it, I don't remember
which, It asked me If I wanted to do that, and I said yes. I went back in
later to make sure and it was checked. I am new to forms, but like what I
see if I can get it to work. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact
that they are receiving the emails via pop3 does it? I can attach the same
machine to the exchange server and open the form from the inbox on the server
and it works just fine.

Thanks for your expediant reply also.

The Exchange Server may be stripping the RTF content. Try setting the recipient address for an Outlook Express user to rich-text and send to them. They'll be able to see the full raw message. If they don't get a Winmail.dat file attachment, then you'll know the server is stripping RTF.

Sue,

I also tried something a little different. If the email comes from the
exchange server and is posted into the personal folder on the machine, it
will work fine. It only seems to be the Internet Mail connection that won't
allow the fields to be seen.

That's why I think you need to perform the test I suggested to determine whether the server's POP3 service is stripping the RTF content.

One problem. When I went to setup the individual for RTF, the only options I
had in the "send options" for MIME were Text, Both Text and HTML and HTML.
But I do have the option in the tools->options to send RTF. So I set that to
RTF, set the individual to Both, and sent a form. I checked the email from
OEx and did not receive a winmail.dat file as an attachment, the only thing I
received was the regular stuff and the body of the message.

Sue,THAT WAS IT. I went into the virtual server for the POP3 protocol, and
set it to use Exchange Rich Text Format, and it worked. Thank you so much
for all your help.

Sincerely,

I'm not talking about the send options but the choices you get when you double-click a user's underlined email address in a message or their contact record. That's where you can set RTF for the recipient.

Glad you fixed it on the server.

I understand, I was right clicking on the email address in the contact record
and hitting send options. Sorry. Thanks again for all your help.
